Wire Connectors Overloaded

A selection of various different wire connectors are overloaded to see which one fails first.

Which is better?

The connectors featured in this video are screw terminals, a Wago 773, red insulated crimp and a Wing-Nut twist connector. All of them are attached to 1.5mm² PVC insulated solid core wire.

Initially, a current suitable for the size of wire is used, however as expected this has no effect so the current is increased until things start to melt and fail.

In the end, all of the connectors survived and the failure was the wire itself.

Conclusion

Provided they are attached correctly, all of the connectors are suitable at and well above the current rating of the wire they are connected to.
