SWA Cable?
This type of cable has a steel wire armour over the insulated inner conductors. It is typically used outside, underground or in other locations where non-armoured cables would not be permitted.
It is not necessary to provide RCD protection for this type of cable, even when used underground, as the outer armour is connected to earth.
The video shows a typical armoued cable, 4 core 6mm² which would typically be used for a three phase and neutral supply. The earth is the outer steel wire armour. Preparing the cable and installing a brass gland is also shown in detail.
