Twin and earth PVC insulated cables

PVC has been used as cable insulation for over 50 years, and is still used today. These are older examples with red and black colour insulation.

Twin and earth, solid core

The colour difference in the outer covering is cosmetic only, there is no electrical difference between the two examples.

Twin and earth, stranded cores

As with the smaller size, both grey and white outer coverings are shown.

All have white outers.

Cables such as these can still be used, so there is no need to replace them unless the cable is physically damaged, corroded or has been exposed to long periods of direct sunlight.
